Travel Tips
Start your Korea trip with confidence!
Here are the essential things you need to know.
Do I need a visa to enter Korea? (K-ETA)
Most travelers need K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) before boarding. Check the official K-ETA website at least 72 hours prior to your flight.
What plug type and voltage does Korea use?
Korea uses 220V, 60Hz. The power plugs are Type C and F (two round pins). You will need a travel adapter if your device has a different plug shape.
Does Google Maps work in Korea?
Google Maps does NOT provide accurate walking or driving directions. We strongly recommend downloading Naver Map or KakaoMap for navigation.
How do I pay for subway and bus?
Buy a T-money card at any convenience store (CU, GS25). It is a rechargeable card used for all public transport, taxis, and even convenience stores.
Do I need to tip in restaurants?
No. Tipping is NOT part of Korean culture. Good service is standard, and paying the exact amount on the bill is expected.
How can I get SIM card or WiFi?
You can book a SIM card or Pocket WiFi online and pick it up at Incheon Airport. Free WiFi is widely available in cafes and subways.
How do I get a Tax Refund?
You can get an immediate tax refund at stores for purchases over 30,000 KRW (approx. $23). Look for the Tax Free logo and bring your passport.
