Bibimbap (Mixed Rice)
A Bowl of Harmony!
Introduction Bibimbap literally means "mixed rice". It is a healthy and colorful dish containing warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions.
Ingredients
- 1 bowl Steamed White Rice
- Toppings (Namul):
- Spinach (blanched & seasoned)
- Bean Sprouts (boiled & seasoned)
- Carrots (julienned & sautéed)
- Shiitake Mushrooms (sliced & sautéed)
- Ground Beef (sautéed with soy sauce)
- 1 Fried Egg (Sunny side up is best!)
- Sauce:
- 1 tbsp Gochujang
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Veggies: Sauté each vegetable separately in a pan with a pinch of salt. This keeps the colors bright and distinct.
- Cook the Egg: Fry an egg sunny-side up so the yolk is still runny.
- Assemble: Place the warm rice in a big bowl. Arrange the vegetables and meat beautifully in a circle on top of the rice.
- Top & Serve: Place the fried egg in the center. Add a generous dollop of Gochujang and a drizzle of sesame oil.
- Eat: Mix everything thoroughly with a spoon before eating. Enjoy the harmony of flavors!
